Mechanisation and automation workshop

Welding

At ILVO's mechanisation and automation workshop, technological prototypes for the agri-food sector are ideated, designed, developed and tested under controlled conditions. An iterative development process is used, this is an agile approach with several subsequent cycles of (re)design and testing.

Services

Development or optimization of technological prototypes in the agrifood sector

Machines are designed using CAD software (Solidworks). A 3D scanner and post-processing software are used for reverse engineering. Lathes, milling machines, bending machines and welding machines are available for metalworking. Various types of sheet metal can be cut using a CNC water jet cutter. Many prototypes are equipped with a variety of sensors, actuators and controllers, programmed for specific tasks.

Combined with the skills of the engineers and technicians, new Agrifood mechatronic prototypes can be developed or optimised in a flexible and efficient way.
